Thomas "Tommy" Joseph Popowick of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on December 28, 2015 at his home. He was 79 years old.Tommy was born September 22, 1936 at St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh, NY to the late Frank Joseph Popowick, Sr. and Josephine Popowick (Pavlik).Tommy served his Country as an Aviation Electrician Airmen 1st. Class in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 and served aboard the Air Craft Carrier, USS Valley Forge and was honorably discharged in 1963. Tommy was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 445 and retired from Provan Transport, Inc. in Newburgh in 1988. But, Tommy's true passion was his love of vintage John Deere tractors which he collected and restored. His other passion was his faith. He was a devoted Catholic, attending services at St. Francis Church and an avid member of the Parish along with other family members.Tommy was loved by all who knew him and he will be sorely missed by his loving family and friends.Tommy was the loving Father of four with 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.The family has asked that in lieu of floral arrangements, contributions in Tommy's name be made to his favorite charity, The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital of which he was a life long supporter and contributor.Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. Burial with full Military Honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor, NY.
