John J. Welsh, Jr. of Wallkill, NY, a lifetime area resident, peacefully entered into rest on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Hospital, with his loving wife, Peggy, by his side. He was 71. Son of the late John J. Welsh Sr and Frances (Youngblood) Welsh, he was born December 5, 1944 in Newburgh. He married Margaret (Peggy) Welsh on December 1, 1973 with reception following at their family home. Peggy survives at home. John was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, stationed in Vietnam. John was a lifetime member of the Good Will Fire Dept. where he served as past president of the Company, past captain and past president of the Benevolent Association, member of the Orange County Volunteer Fireman's Association and member of the Red Vest Association. John was also a proud member of UA Local 373 Plumbers and Steamfitters. John loved his family, his country and his brother and sisters at Good Will Fire Dept, as he was fondly known as Welshy. He always enjoyed a good party and the company of his family, especially his grandchildren. He taught us strong family values and always to be respectful to everyone you come across. A void will forever be in our hearts, but we take comfort in the fact that he is now in peace and with his beloved daughter, Meghan. In addition to his wife of 42 years, Peggy, he is survived by his two daughter: Denise Vesely and her husband Tom of Cornwall and Amber Lynch and her husband John of Bantry, Ireland.
