Helen A. Koenig Corkedale died January 16, 2016. Helen was born July 25, 1928. She was a Newburgh Free Academy graduate, graduating in 1947. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Helen Ann (Koenig) Corkedale on Saturday, January 16, 2016 with her children by her side. She was 87. Helen was the daughter of Nellie and Ernest Koenig. She was born July 25, 1928 in New York City. She was the widow of John C. Corkedale Sr., who pre-deceased on her on December 10, 1984. Helen was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was devoted to her family and will always be remembered by her great grandchildren as “Grandma Beep-Beep”. She was the center of our family. Helen is survived by her loving children John .C Corkedale Jr. and wife Patricia of New Windsor, Linda Barnett and husband William of Balmville, Diane L. Schufa and husband Rodrick of Walden, and Patricia A. LaGrotteria and husband Peter of Mocksville ,NC, and her sister Frances Pavlik and husband Richard. She also survived by her 10 grandchildren: Wendy (Barnett) Byrne and husband Sean of Wallkill, NY, Tammy ( Barnett) Larsen and husband Steven of Millbrook, NY, George Barnett of Balmville, NY, Holly ( Schufa) Vaillancourt and husband Jon of N. Oxford .MA, Kelli (Schufa) Gayton and husband Jack of Montgomery,NY, Caralee Schufa of Downing, PA, Jamie (Corkedale) Ligus and husband Adam of East Berlin CT, Tricia (Corkedale) Phelan and husband Brandon of New Windsor, NY, Jonathan LaGrotteria of Mockville, NC, and Andrea LaGrotteria of Mockville, NC; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Anthony, John, Richard, Ernest and William Koenig, and her sister Elizabeth Conklin and Margaret Silkworth Garcia. Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21 from 4-7pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian of Burial will be held at 11am at Sacred Heart Church, with burial fallowing in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh. Replies to this post |
