Marie Ann Garzione, age 90, a 76 year resident of Newburgh, NY, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at home. She was born to the late John and Concetta (Nardone) Carbone on January 29, 1925 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Marie graduated from Newburgh Free Academy, Newburgh. She met her soulmate, Patsy Garzione, on a blind date. The couple were married on October 16, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh where they remained active parishioners. Pat & Marie bought their one and only home in 1956 on Sherman Drive where the whole neighborhood was like family. Marie always had the neighborhood kids coming to her for special home cooked meals and to this day they visit "Mr. & Mrs. Garz." Marie taught her family strong values and the importance of family, faith, hard work, kindness, tolerance, generosity, forgiveness and love. She was a strong woman, stubborn, always direct and yet had an amazing sense of humor. Marie was an active member in the community and served as Officer for many organizations including Club 60, West End Couple's Club, St. Vincent de Paul and Opti-Mrs. Marie spent many hours volunteering for Catholic Charities and only stopped at 88 years old when her illness prevented her from helping. Marie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Patsy Garzione and her children: Marie & Jeff Murphy & Anthony & Donna Garzione all of Wallkill, NY; John Garzione of Newburgh, NY and Bernadette & Jesse Sherman of Coatesville, PA. Left with wonderful memories are her grandchildren: Kristopher and JonPat Murphy, Jeremy (Kendra), Brendan (Teresa), Joshua (Stacey), Shane, Courtney, Chelsea, and Brandon Garzione, and Andrew and Alana Sherman. She is also survived by her loving great-grandchildren who will miss their GiGi greatly, Bailee, Gabriel and Jacob Murphy; Kasey, Olivia, Madison, Tyler and Julian Garzione. Marie also leaves special in-laws Marlene and Anthony Garzione, special friend Angie Gilbert, beloved nieces, Maryann Rhinefield and Jane North, and many more nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and numerous loving relatives and friends. Marie is now reunited with those loved ones who predeceased her: loving parents, brothers; Joseph & John Carbone, special in-laws; David & Marian Garzione and many loving friends and relatives. Visitation for family and friends will take place Wednesday, January 20th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd., (Route 32) Newburgh. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m., Thursday, January 21st at Sacred Heart Church, 25 S. Robinson Ave., Newburgh. Entombment to follow the Mass at Cedar Hill Mausoleum.
