Charlotte John Holderfield Gillespie - Class of 1941

    Charlotte John Holderfield Gillespie, of New Windsor, entered into rest on Saturday, February 27, 2016 in Madison, Alabama. She was 92. Daughter of the late Charles and Ethel (Masten) John, she was born January 29, 1924 in Newburgh. She was married to the late Oris Holderfield and the late Wallace Gillespie. Charlotte was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and Poughkeepsie Business Institute. She will be lovingly remembered for always putting everyone else first, especially her children and grandchildren. She was generous, kind, and had a great sense of humor. We will miss her love and her beautiful smile. She is survived by her children, Dolores Childress and her husband William of Harvest, AL, and William Holderfield and his wife Linda of New Windsor; grandchildren, Tracy Wright of Harvest, AL and Patrick Holderfield (Melissa Mullineaux) of Seattle, WA; brother-in-law David Holderfield and his wife Barbara of Raleigh, NC; cousins, Louise Hargraves, William Goldstein and his wife Barbra, and the late Ronald Goldstein, who were all dear to her heart.Visitation will be held from 10 am - 12 pm on Saturday, March 5 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, with a service following the visitation at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.
