Harry Charles Knapp - Class of 1965

    Harry Charles Knapp, of New Windsor, NY, a retired Assistant Foreman for Orange County DPW and 68-year area resident, entered into rest on Monday, February 29, 2016. He was 69. Son of the late Joseph and Mary (Cornish) Knapp, he was born July 1, 1946 in Hartford, CT. He married Diane (Weddell) Knapp on October 17, 1982 in New Windsor. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law, uncle, and friend. Harry was a kind man who always put others first and was always there for all, a man who embraced every aspect of life who was able to find humor in moments that most couldn't, and whose smile could spread to those all around him. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane, at home; his sons, Shawn Knapp of New Windsor and Ryan Richardson of Newburgh; siblings, John Knapp of Stroudsburg, PA and Elizabeth Grant of Walden; grandchildren, Lindsey Knapp and Hailey Richardson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Shane Joseph Knapp; brothers, Joseph Knapp and David Knapp; and sisters, Peggy Beske, Dorothy Jones and Blanche Knapp. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 4 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, with private family visitation from 4 to 5 p.m. A service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
