Peter Z. Petrillo, Jr. - Class of 1946

    Peter Z. Petrillo Jr., a lifelong resident of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on March 13, 2016. He was 87. Son of the late Peter and Mary (Feo) Petrillo, he was born August 7, 1928 in Newburgh. Peter married Jean (Napolitano) on August 15, 1953 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Jean predeceased him on December 5, 2012. Peter was a native of Newburgh. He was the City Welfare Commissioner, then went on to the Administrative position of Newburgh’s Nursing Home located on Lake Street. Upon closing that facility he was the Administrator for Orange County Home and Infirmary in Goshen, NY until his retirement in 1984. Survivors include his only child Jody Scagnelli and husband Daniel of Clinton Corners, NY; sister, Esther Pekar of Newburgh; and brother, William Petrillo of Florida; grandchildren, Zachary, Peter, and Emma-Rose; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife Jean, Peter was predeceased by brothers Vincenzo, Ralph, Vincent and Joseph. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Thursday, March 17 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, with a prayer service at 7:30pm. Interment will be private at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
