Louis A. Ponessi, 87 passed peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. A loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather & great-grandfather, he was born and raised in Newburgh, NY. Lou was a milk distributor for most of his life along with his brother Joe, delivering milk up to 80 years of age. An avid mechanic and master of all trades, Lou could not do enough for others and was always a phone call away if anything broke down. We were blessed to have him in our lives. Lou is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Gloria; children, Theresa Maiello, Louis (Maureen) Ponessi and Elizabeth (David) Christie; many loving nieces, nephews, daughters-in-law, a Pepa to 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Joe. Lou was predeceased by his son, Joey and his sister Thomasina Bello. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 5-8 pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, March 19 at Our Lady of the Lake Chapel, Newburgh, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
