Jean Moore McCurry - Class of 1943

  Jean Moore McCurry, age 90, of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, passed away April 11, 2016 after a brief stay at Tidelands Community Hospice House after her five year battle with Alzheimer disease. Born Ruth Jean Moore on December 3, 1925 in Newburgh, New York to parents Sam and Bess Moore she lived in Newburgh, NY her entire life until retiring to Surfside Beach, SC in 1985 with her husband James McCurry. She is survived by her son James (Jonica) of Murrells Inlet, SC and daughter Eileen (Jim) of Surfside Beach, SC; a brother, Robert Malcolm Moore (Judy) of Myrtle Beach, SC and a grandson, J.C. Lewis (Miranda) of Murrells Inlet, SC and a great granddaughter, Lyla Grace. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother she enjoyed her family and friends. She found great joy when she was able to visit with Agnes Valleau and Emily Hunter who preceded her in passing. A private ceremony for family only will be held at Goldfinch Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet, SC. Special thanks to caregiver Terry Southwick for her dedicated care and help throughout this Alzheimer journey. Also the family would like to thank Nurse Jane Griffin of Mercy Care for her help to the family. The family cannot thank you enough.
