Allen Atwell Amos,Sr. - Class of 1957

    Allen Atwell Amos Sr., a longtime resident of Newburgh, NY passed away on April 19, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was 78. He is the son of the late Carl L. and Adelaide C. Amos. Allen retired from MacBeth Trucking Company after 37 years of service where he worked as a Shipping Manager. Allen attended Orange County Community College and graduated with an Associate Degree in Business in the 90s. He enjoyed watching his New York sporting teams (Knicks, Mets, and Jets) with family and friends. He loved to sing and in the 60s he was part of a singing group called "Paramount". Allen is survived by his wife of 58 years, Golena Amos; his sons, Allan Jr. (Queen), Wesley, and Patrick (Lori); his sister, Irma Ruff; his cherished grandchildren: Alasia, Nathan, Ashton, Christopher, Ashle', Shayla, Michael, Navada, Natasha, Monique, and Monica; great grandchildren: De'Asia, Ja'Shaun, Jassiah, Jamyri, Navon, Dominic, Naziyah'morell, Kiah, Kiera, Skyler, Lanice, Markel, Marques, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by one daughter, Irma Amos; two sons, James and Troy Amos; two sisters, Adelaide Amos and Carlotta Sullenwider, and one brother, Cornelius Amos. Mr. Amos will lie in repose from 2 to 3 p.m. on Monday, April 25th at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel, 259 Walsh Ave., New Windsor, NY 12553. Service is at 3 p.m. at the chapel.
