Caroline Boris Walsh - June of 1939

  Caroline Boris Walsh, of Ocean City, NJ, formerly a long time resident of Newburgh, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. She was 94 years young. Daughter of the late Lucian and Michelina (Danowska) Boris, she was born August 6, 1921 in Bronx, NY. She married the late James B. Walsh on January 1, 1945 in St. Francis of Assisi Church in Newburgh. James predeceased her on February 11, 1954. Caroline was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. She worked for over 20 years as a Secretary to the Fire Chief at the Newburgh City Fire Department. Following her retirement in 1991, she moved to Ocean City, New Jersey where she enjoyed entertaining family and friends on her front porch. Her favorite pastimes included reading, crocheting, cooking, giving advice and frequent trips to the Casino in Atlantic City. She was an avid animal lover and always looked forward to visits from her grand dogs. "She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. To anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her, she will be greatly missed". Caroline is survived by her loving family, her children: James B. Walsh and his wife, Mildred of Cherry Hill, NJ, John M. Walsh and his wife, Ann of Newburgh, Thomas R. Walsh of Galloway, NJ, and Mary Ann Cunningham and her husband, William of Walden; grandchildren: Josh, James, Jeffrey, Mary Kathryn, Meghan, Timothy, Lauren, Maureen, Jack, Colleen and Thomas; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Ridings and Ann Denniston. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 24 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 25 in St. Francis of Assisi Church in Newburgh, with Father Bill Damroth officiating. Burial will follow in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Caroline's memory may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
