Stephen Jaffee - Class of 1962

Stephen H. Jaffee
died suddenly in Newburgh NY with his family by his side on May 15, 2016. He was
a great family man, devoted husband and loving father. He is survived by his
loving wife Mary of 40 years, son Jay & wife Daniella of New Windsor, son Mark &
wife Trish of Plattekill, daughter Rebecca of New Windsor, son Patrick of
Newburgh, sister Shelley Sosnick & husband Paul, brother Michael Jaffee & wife
Laurie, brother Lon Birnhotz, and beloved grandchildren Alyssa, Tyler, Lilie,
Emily, and nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. Stephen is predeceased
by his mother June Birnholz, Father Julius Jaffee, stepfather Leon Birnholz,
childhood friends Val Warren & Mike Gross, and friend George Rodecker. Stephen
was born June 18' 1942 in Brooklyn to June & Julius Jaffee. A graduate of
Newburgh Free Academy, he proudly served in the United States National Guard. He
retired as a graphic artist from Texaco Research & Development. An avid artist,
photographer and cigar aficionado, he enjoyed photographing family, nature, and
cigar events. Stephen had a love of music from an early age, listening to 45s
with his sister, playing in bands and being a DJ with Customusic. He enjoyed
spending time with his friends from Schlesingers Hudson Valley Cigars where he
worked. One of his greatest joys was capturing memories of his children,
grandchildren and extended family. Stephen was an animal lover and cared for
many. His family and friends will always remember him smiling, with a cigar or
camera in his hand. Stephen will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Services
will be held at Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home Inc. on Wednesday, May June 18,2016
from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 at 318 N Montgomery St. Newburgh, NY 12550.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Stephen's life. Stephen was patriotic
and proudly involved in events for Veterans and one of his favorite
organizations was Wings for Warriors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
