William H. Baxter, a lifelong resident, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 in the arms of his loving wife of 54 years, Anna (Annie) Copeletti Baxter. Son of the late William Houston and Isabelle O’Malley Baxter, he was born October 12, 1938 in Newburgh. Bill was a graduate of NFA Class of 1956 and Orange County Community College, and worked for 27 years at IBM Kingston as a Systems Analyst. Bill served on the Board of Directors of Newburgh Pop Warner and Town of Newburgh Little League. An avid sports enthusiast, he was a Yankee and NY Giant fan through and through. A good conversation and laughter with friends were his hallmark. His greatest joy were his children, William O’Malley Baxter and his wife Annah of Boston, Susan Voellm and her husband Mark of Wynantskill, NY and Christopher Baxter and his wife Linda of Upper Montclair, NJ; his grandchildren who called him “Poppop”, Katherine and Will Baxter, Carianna and Carli Voellm, and Nathaniel and Siena Baxter. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Carol Berman and MaryAnn Duryea. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, May 24 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 25 at Our Lady of the Lake Chapel, Newburgh. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions in Bill’s name to the March of Dimes, 1275 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY 10605 or online at www.Marchofdimes.org Replies to this post No replies yet |
