Robert Stuyvesant Slocum - 1933-2016 age 82, of Niceville Florida passed away May 22nd 2016. Robert was born November 17th 1933 in Newburgh, N.Y. Robert graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1950 and went on to receive a degree in Applied Science from Orange County College. Robert served his country during the Korean War from 1954 to 1958 as a Corporal in the United States Army stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Robert went to work for Shell Oil Company and his career took him to Albany N.Y., Bridgeport Conn., and Mobile AL where he retired as the Plant Manager of the bulk distribution plants in Mobile, Mississippi and Louisiana. He enjoyed the outdoors and developed a great passion for playing golf which led him to move to Blue Water Bay immediately upon retirement in 1992. His life was greatly enriched by the people he met and the treasured friendships developed over the last 25 years in the Blue Water Community. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Jeanie Slocum, his parents, Harrison and Edna Slocum; brothers Kenneth, Richard and Roy Slocum and his baby sister Marion Slocum. He is survived by his two children Janet Keith of Mobile Ala.; son, Scott Slocum (Lynn) of Opelika, Ala.; grandchildren, Zachary Keith (Wendy), Adam Keith (Christie), of Mobile Ala.; Shelby Slocum and Rachel Slocum of Opelika Ala.; and a great grandson John Hayden Keith. Robert is also survived by two brothers, Harrison Slocum (Margaret) and David Slocum (Mary Jo) and many nieces and nephews. Private arrangements are being handled by McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you kindly make contributions to a charity of your choice.
