    Michele McDermott Fischer - Dear friends and class of 1973. We lost a classmate this afternoon. May 28th 2016. My beloved old pal Michele McDermott passed away at Cornell Hospital. I thank the nurse who took a message for me to tell Michelle I loved her and was praying for her. We had many fond memories since South High and NFA high school. I will miss her dearly. My prayers go out to her daughters and grand children. RIP my friend until we meet again

Michelle Patricia McDermott Fischer, of Newburgh, NY, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Saturday, May 28, 2016. She was 61 years old. The daughter of the late William and Eleanor (Scott) McDermott, she was born March 13, 1955 in Newburgh. She graduated in the class of 1973 from Newburgh Free Academy. She was a loving mother, grandmother (Maca), sister and friend to all. She had the most generous heart and soul, and will be fondly remembered. Michelle is survived by her significant other Edward Garcia, her children: Jessica L. Prisco and her husband Richard of Monroe, and Lauren E. Fischer and her Fiancé Peter Kilduff of Newburgh; her siblings: Sharon Satterly of Newburgh, James McDermott of Schenectady, and Kathy McDermott of New Windsor; her grandchildren: Abigail, Carter and Callen; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 5-8pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A funeral service will be held on Thursday June 2 at 10am at the Funeral Home, with burial following in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Michelle’s name to the Vassar Brothers Heart Center, 1 Columbia St, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or call (845) 473-1188.
