John “Janek” Thaddeus Krol, an area resident since 1954, entered into rest on Monday, May 30, 2016 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, NY. He was 70 years of age. The son of the late Jan and Bronislawa Koziola Krol, he was born on September 28, 1945 in Germany. Jan was retired and formerly was an employee of Tarkett in Vails Gate. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Jan was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 445. He was an avid NASCAR racing fan, and had raced go-karts and stock cars. Jan also enjoyed surfing, photography, gardening, traveling and was a man of many talents. Survivors include: his wife Mary Stewart Krol of Plattekill; his brothers and sisters, Richard Krol and his wife Cindy of Newburgh, Sophia Gonzalez and her husband Joseph of Montgomery, Jerzy “George” Krol and his wife Mary of Newburgh, Theresa Alvarado of Newburgh and Justine McKibbon of Las Vegas; brother-in-law John Stewart and his wife Martha of Portland, OR, sister-in-law Katherine Stern of Kentucky, brother-in-law David Stewart and his wife Barbara of Middletown, and brother-in-law Joseph Stewart and his wife Elizabeth of Circleville; his children Jon Paul Krol of Newburgh and Judy Krol of Newburgh; his granddaughter Madelyn Krol of Highland; numerous loving nieces & nephews; his dear friend Chris Ward of Marlboro; and dear friends and family in Canada and Poland. Jan was predeceased by his parents and his son Mark Krol. Family and friends may call at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 4-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, June 3rd in the United Presbyterian Church of Middletown, 25 Orchard St., Middletown, NY. The Reverend Kathryn Rivera Torea will officiate. Cremation will take place at the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh. Following the cremation, interment of the cremains will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Middletown.
