Lawrence D. Coan, formerly of New Windsor, son of Lawrence J. Coan and Frances Auberger Coan passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016 in Orlando, Florida one day shy of his 90th birthday. He was a Lifetime Member of The New Windsor Fire Department and Benevolent Association as well as a Military Veteran of the Navy. A graduate of Ryder College, he spent most of his career in Finance in Civil Service at Stewart Air Force Base and then the West Point Military Academy. Widower of the late Margaret L. Coan, Larry, affectionately known to his family as Pop, was dearly loved by his daughter, Barbara Lombard of Orlando; two step-sons Dr. William Malloy of Sarasota, Florida and Frank Malloy of Newburgh; grandchildren, Erin Malloy Chiari, Frank L. Malloy, Robert Curtis, Robert Lombard and Brian Lombard; great-grandchildren Madisyn Malloy, Ronan Chiari, Caden Curtis, and Kaelyn Lombard. Visitation will be held from 10a.m.-11a.m. on Wednesday, June 15 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. Following visitation, a Catholic Burial Service will be celebrated at Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.
