Virginia Valerie Treshman Quinn - Class of 1953

  Virginia Valerie Treshman Quinn (Val) of New Windsor, NY, a former secretary for the City of Newburgh Activity Center, Club 60, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital; she was 81. The daughter of the late Valmore and Mabel (Tuthill) Treshman, she was born February 24, 1935, in Newburgh, NY. Val is survived by her five children: Virginia V. Lipsey-Brown of New Windsor, NY, Robin A. Lipsey of Wallkill, NY, Keith Lipsey of Newburgh, NY, Leilani Wrobel of Bloomingburg, NY, and Dana Quinn of New Windsor, NY; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchilren; and one great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by her sister, Mabel; her brother, Eugene, and her son, Sean W. Quinn. In her early years, Val was a member of the Girl Scouts Troop 18 of Grace Methodist Church, enjoyed tap dancing, was a dancer on roller skates, loved ice-skating, and modeled wedding dresses for Hollywood Togs in 1952. In recent years, Val loved going down to the river and being a part of The Riverteers, she often talked about the lovely kites that the kite lady flew; she loved to feed the ducks and ducklings, listen to music, and dance. She loved the holidays, Christmas being her favorite. She also volunteered to serve Thanksgiving dinner to the Seafarers in New York City. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Newburgh, NY. Val lived a very full life with all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchild and many friends. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 16th at Hudson Valley Funeral Home, Inc., 239 Quassaick Avenue (Rt. 94), New Windsor, NY. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 17th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Middlehope, NY.
