Geraldine Altopiedi Masten, a lifelong resident of the Newburgh area, entered into rest on Friday, June 17, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Newburgh. She was 81. The daughter of the late James and Anna (Esposito) Altopiedi, she was born on November 28, 1934 in Newburgh, NY. She married Andrew W. Masten, Sr. on February 1, 1953 in Newburgh. Andrew Sr. predeceased Geraldine on November 8, 2010. Geraldine was a Police Dispatcher for the Towns of Cornwall, New Windsor and Newburgh. She also served as Court Clerk for the Town of New Windsor for Judge Donald Suttlehan. Although she had an impressive career, her family and home were her priority and her joy. There are no words that can express our love and gratitude to the Guardian Angels who enabled our Mother to be able to stay in her home for as long as possible which was her greatest joy. They wrapped her in their wings and protected her on her journey and they are forever loved and cherished. Geraldine is survived by her loving children, Andrew W. Masten, Jr. of Cornwall; daughter, Toni Lundgren and her husband, Dale C. of Carthage, NY; sister, Angela Davidson and her husband, John of New Windsor, nieces, Stacia D. Vanderee of New Windsor, NY and Jessica Colandrea and her husband Vincent of Newburgh; grand nephews, Brian, Matthew and Tyler Vanderee and Jonah Colandrea. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Anna and her beloved husband, Andrew Sr. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 21 at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen.
