Jerry Pullar - Class of 1962

    Jerome (Jerry) Pullar of the Town of Newburgh, a retired electrician for Local 363 IBEW entered into rest Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Campbell Hall Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his family. He was 72. The son of the late William and Anne (Brennan) Pullar, Jerry was born March 2, 1944 in Newburgh. Jerry graduated from NFA in 1962 and OCCC in 1964. Jerry also worked at the US Mint at West Point. Jerry was a volunteer fireman for 54 years. He belonged to Quassaick Fire Co. from 1962 to 1970. In 1970 he joined the Dan Leghorn Engine Co #1 to present where he served as past chief from 1977 to 1978, also held positions of vice president, treasurer, financial secretary, trustee and was a commissioner for the Orange Lake Fire District. He was a member of the Town of Newburgh Fire Bureau, OCVFA and FASNY. Jerry did fire inspections for the Town of Newburgh before they had an official fire inspector. He also was a part time dispatcher for the fire departments before 911 was adopted. He loved to keep busy. All of his friends and neighbors knew that if you needed help just call, Jerry. Survivors include his wife, Irene (DeTurris) Pullar who he married on May 6, 1967 at home, children: Paul Pullar and his wife, Sherri of Walden, Catherine Brumm and her husband, Chris of Chesapeake VA; brother, James Pullar and wife, Donna of Surfside Beach, SC, granddaughter, Jessica Pullar, and nephew, Bill Pullar. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his niece, Nancy Pullar and close friends Bruce and Geri Paffendorf. Visitation will take place from Saturday, June 25th from 2 to 6 p.m. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd., (Rte.32), Town of Newburgh, with a firematic service at 5 p.m. Funeral service will take place at 6 p.m. with Father John Vondras officiating. Cremation will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Burial will be held at a time convenient to the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jerry's memory may be sent to Dan Leghorn Engine Co. #1, 407 So. Plank Rd. #5, Newburgh, NY 12550 or to Firefighters Burn Fund of Orange, Sullivan & Dutchess Counties, 16 Third St., Rhinebeck, NY 12572  Jerry Pullar - NFA Class of 1962 - Born March 2, 1944 in Newburgh, Died June 22, 2016.
