John E. Kane - Class of 1954

      John E. Kane, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Newburgh, NY, a member of IBEW #363 for over 50 years, entered into rest Sunday, June 26, 2016. He was 79. Son of the late Edward and Edith (McClellan) Kane, he was born July 2, 1936 in Newburgh. He was married to the late Sandra (Lennon) Kane for 53 years. John was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and proudly served his country as a Submariner in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to all. He is survived by his son, John E. Kane and wife Denise of Montgomery; sister, Sandra Fusco and husband Al of Leesburg, FL; grandchildren, Cory Sharkin of Ft. Myers, FL, Heather and Daniel Gottlieb of Cooper City, FL, Keri Kane of Washington, and John E. Kane III of Colorado; great-grandchildren Alexa and Spencer Gottlieb of Florida; son-in-law Joe Sharkin of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Sandra, he was predeceased by his brother, Pratt Kane and his daughter, Melinda Sharkin. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, June 30 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, July 1 at the funeral home, with entombment with military honors following at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John’s name may be sent to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550.
