Illahna "Lonnie" Ward Wygant - Class of 1959

  Illahna "Lonnie" Ward Wygant a lifelong area resident passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016. She was 74 years old. Lonnie was the daughter of the late Benjamin & Esther Terwilliger Ward. She was born in Newburgh, NY on September 30, 1941. Lonnie graduated N.F.A. in 1959. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Newburgh, a member of the Valley Central Retired Teachers Association. After retiring Lonnie spent the winter months in Venice, Florida along with husband Donald and many friends. Lonnie cherished her time with family, especially holiday gatherings. A grandmother and great grandmother she loved crocheting for all. Lonnie was an avid bingo player and enjoyed sea cruises very much. Survivors include her husband Donald Wygant at home in Wallkill, her son David D. Wygant of Florida and daughters Deanne M. Alfano and husband Paul of Montgomery and Denise I. Van Duyne and husband Charles of the Finger Lakes, her sister Pamela Tripp of Newburgh, 4 grandchildren; Wayne Van Duyne, Kayleigh Sgroi, Nicholas Alfano & Danika Alfano, 3 great grandchildren; Owen Van Duyne, Addilyn Sgroi & Charlotte Sgroi and 1 nephew Jon and Tara Tripp of Wyoming. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 25th from 4-8pm at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro. uneral services will take place on Tuesday morning at 11am at the funeral home with the Reverend Jeffrey Hooker officiating. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Lonnie's memory can be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 2556, Newburgh, NY 12550.
