Virginia Ann Conklin Laper - Class of 1953

  Virginia Ann Conklin Laper of Newburgh, NY, a retired Registered Nurse for Middletown Park Manor and a lifelong resident of the area died Sunday, July 24, 2016. She was 80. The daughter of the late Elmer and Sarah Jane Conklin, she was born April 28, 1936 in Newburgh. She was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Flower Fifth Avenue School of Nursing and St. Joseph's College of Maine. After retiring from many years of nursing she returned to college to earn her Bachelor's Degree. She was a Charge Nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh and an Inservice coordinator and RN supervisor at Middletown Park Manor. For many years she delivered Meals on Wheels to Seniors in the Newburgh area with her late husband. She was a former President and Vice President of Long Term Care Educators Association and was a member of Flower Fifth Avenue Alumni Association. She was the widow of Eugene E Laper. Survivors include her son Eugene E Laper, III, son Jeffery D Laper and his wife Karen L.; grandson Jeffery D Laper, Jr. and granddaughter Megan A Laper. Visitation will be Friday, July 29, 2016 from 10:30-11am. at the chapel at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5468 Route 9W North, Newburgh, NY. Funeral services will follow visitation at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel. Rev. Peggy Sullivan will officiate. Entombment will be in Cedar Hill Mausoleum in Newburgh, NY. Donations in memory of Virginia may be made to Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh, 35 Cerone Pl., Newburgh, NY 12550 or St. Johns in the Wilderness Church, 119 St. Johns Rd., Stony Pt., NY 10980.
