Vivian Collins DeGroat of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. She was 85 years old. The daughter of the late Howard and Ella Collins, Vivian was born May 30, 1931 in Newburgh. Vivian graduated from Newburgh Free Academy. Through the years she was employed by the NY Telephone Company, Page's Answering Service, Syntex Beauty Care and DeGroat & Tart Construction. Vivian enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling in her motorhome. Survivors include her loving husband, Harvey at home, her children; David DeGroat and his wife, Sandi of the Town of Newburgh, Linda Baranski and her husband, Charles of New Windsor, grandchildren; Kevin DeGroat and his wife, Renee, Kerri DeGroat, Jennifer Benzenberg and her husband, Brian, and Kristoffer Baranski; three great grandchildren, Andrew & Avery DeGroat and Brett Benzenberg, as well as several nieces and nephews. Vivian is also survived by her good friend, Lois Earl. In addition to her parents, Vivian is predeceased by her sisters; Virginia Esterbrook and Shirley Collins and her brother, Howard Collins. The family wishes to thank all the aides and nurses who took such good care of Vivian, as well as Hospice. Visitation for family and friends will be held, Friday, August 5th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd. (Rte. 32) Town of Newburgh. Funeral service will commence at 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Vivian's memory to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties or the the Coldenham Fire Dept. Replies to this post No replies yet |
