    Carol K. Powles Ayres, age 73, of Moundsville, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Bishop Joseph Hodges Continuous Care Center, Wheeling. She was born September 28, 1942 in Newburgh, NY daughter of the late Raymond and Caroline Montfort Powles. Carol was a former Nurse’s Aide at the Orange County Health and a Home Health Care worker. She was a former member of the Our Lady of Hope, Newburgh, NY and a former majorette for the Continental Fife & Drum Corp and the Hudson Valley Drum Corp. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her companion: Harry Brady and a great granddaughter: Shelby Lynn Chambers. Survivors include two daughters: Christine Ayres and Carole Stillwell both of Moundsville; one son: Charles (Irene) Ayres of Wheeling; one brother: Raymond (Nancy) Powles of New Hampshire; eight grandchildren: Daniel, Anna, Crystal, Mary and Raymond (Tabitha) Ayres, James Henry, Jessica (Chris) Chambers and George Blake, Jr.; seven great grandchildren: Joshua and Madison Henry, Jada Blake, Cheyenne and Tristyn Chambers, Ryliegh Matthews and Aaron Beaver; one nephew: Raymond Powles, III and two nieces: Stephanie and Wanda Powles. Family will receive friends on Monday, August 8th, from 4-7pm at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00am with Chaplain Thomas Mathes officiating. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
