Joseph Volpe - Class of 1966

    Joseph Volpe age 67 of Marlboro, NY passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Hospital, Poughkeepsie. Joseph was born in Newburgh, NY on September 23, 1948. He was the son of the late Daniel & Romie Tomasi Volpe. He married Betty Branning. Joseph was a United States Army Reserves Veteran. He was a Special Education Teacher in the Newburgh School District. Joe was a member of the Newburgh Teacher's Union. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially loved fishing for stripers in the Hudson River. He enjoyed wine making, gardening and tending to his fruit trees. He loved giving rides to his grandchildren in the bucket of his farm tractor. Joe's favorite saying was "Don't be a wuss, suck it up - no whining allowed". Survivors include his wife Betty Branning Volpe at home, his son John Volpe of New Paltz, his brothers; Daniel Volpe and his wife Michele of New Windsor & Raymond Volpe of Conneticut, his 3 grandchildren; Kayla, Rachel & Devin Volpe, many nieces and nephews and many relatives in Italy and Australia. Joe was predeceased by his 2 sister in laws; Andrea Volpe & Cathy Rutigliano. Memorial calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8pm at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Joe's memory to a charity of their choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Carl J. DiDonato, Jr. of the DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc.
