Frank Robert Ennis, Jr. (Bob) passed away peacefully in his home on August 15, 2016, surrounded by his family. Bob Ennis was born in Newburgh, NY, September 19, 1924 to Frank Robert Ennis, Sr. and Mayne Daniel Ennis. He served in the 8th Army Air Force with the 60th Troop Carrier Group during World War II in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. Following the war he toured Europe as a drummer with a Big Band named Candidates for Section 8. He was discharged honorably receiving the American Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and the good conduct medal. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Drinkwater Ennis, on June 2, 1946. She predeceased him on June 29, 2002. Bob loved his wife deeply, without whom life was never the same. In 1950 he graduated with honors from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He began work for IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1951. In 1957 Bob and Dot and their children moved to Vermont. Bob was part of the initial group to start up the new IBM plant in Essex Junction. He retired at the end of 1983 after over 32 years. Bob enjoyed playing his drums, horseback riding, trout fishing, and photography. Bob was a very accomplished equestrian. Over the years he owned two horses. One was a Morgan and the other a Thoroughbred race horse which he re-schooled for trail riding and jumping. Following his retirement he turned his photography hobby into a small business and photographed over 80 weddings. He later photographed scenery and wildlife for his own pleasure. Bob leaves behind his son, Richard Ennis and his partner Michelle Parent, Tunbridge, Vt, and his 3 daughters, Nancy Ennis from Santa Fe, NM, Barbara Ennis-Abramo and her husband Stefan Abramo of Gloucester MA, and Peggy Seppala and her husband Rod Seppala of Gillette WY. He also leaves his grandchildren Jason Ennis, Derek Ennis and his wife Sarah Ennis, Alex Abramo and his wife Amanda Abramo, Zach Abramo and Felicia Messimer. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, August 19th, 11:00 AM at Fairview Cemetery in Essex Jct., Vermont.
