Michael K. Jordan - Class of 1965
Submitted by Bill Norvell 65 <w.norvell@att.net> on 25/Sep/2016 108.75.156.175

Michael K. Jordan Sr., loving father, grandfather and dear friend to many,
passed away tragically on September 25th, 2016. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on
August 6th 1947, to his loving parents, Alice and Harry Jordan, who predeceased
him. Michael was not only a father figure to many near and dear friends but he
was also known as "Grandpa Mike", "Abuelo", "Uncle Mike", "MJ", "Tanguero" and a
fond lover of the links. Michael was a long time resident of Newburgh, NY and
graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1965. Michael went on to serve in the
Air Force from 1966 to 1970. Michael worked as a lineman with NY Tel (now
Verizon) for many years and later became a union representative for CWA Local
1120 where ultimately was elected to Executive Vice President which he served as
until his retirement. Just when life for many others would understandably slow
down, Michael's life sped up. After having developed diabetes later in life, he
began a fitness regiment with the help from his extended family at Gold's Gym,
which ultimately rid him of the disease. Michael "Tanguero" also became avid
Tango dancer which became one of the great loves of his life which he enjoyed
with so many others. Michael is survived by his sons, Kyle Jordan, Michael Kevin
Jordan Jr. and Timothy Jordan and wife Candice Jordan and grandchildren Liam,
Grayson and Madelena Jordan; his sister Kathleen Kiciak and her husband Paul
Kiciak; his brother Joseph Jordan and his wife Billie Van Wieren; and nephew
Andrew Van Wieren. All whom Michael embraced are warmly welcomed to attend his
services at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh from 4pm-8pm on Friday
September 30th. A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:30 am on Saturday, October
1st, at St Patrick's Parish, in Newburgh. Michael was a firm believer in paying
it forward and therefore in lieu of flowers and to honor his memory and save a
life, please donate blood or consider a donation to the New York Blood Center
