Josephine "Jinx" Taylor Siegfried, 87 of Newburgh passed away on September 26, 2016. Daughter of the late John K. Taylor and Helen C. Mikucki Taylor, Jinx was born March 26, 1929 in Newburgh. After graduating Newburgh Free Academy in 1947, Jinx went on to have a full and successful life. Her business, civic and service accomplishments were many. Jinx helped many people start new lives while working at the Newburgh Housing Authority. She became the top agent at Ethan Allen Personnel Agency, President of the Siegfried Press, charter member and past president of the Mid-Hudson Craftsman Assoc. Jinx was a treasurer of the Town of Newburgh Democratic Party and was the Democratic nomination for the 96 Assembly Districts of Orange, Dutchess and Rockland Counties. She was member of Zonta International of the Greater Newburgh area, empowering women through service and advocacy. Through her work as a den mother for the Cub Scouts of America and as a church school teacher for St. Patrick's and Our Lady of the Lake Churches, Jinx taught the importance of moral and spiritual values to many of the area's children. She also worked with the Make a Wish Foundation. If you were ask Jinx what her most important accomplishment was, she would tell you that it was her family. Jinx is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Milton A. "Moe" Siegfried, her loving son, Kenneth B. Siegfried, her brother, John E. "Jack" Taylor and sisters; Catherine M. Frazier and Helen V. Dallett. Survivors include her sons; Frank R. Siegfried and Arthur L. Siegfried both of Newburgh and Darrin Siegfried, as well as many nieces, nephews, godchildren and cousins. "We love you Mommie Dearest! Not only did you make all our lives better, you made them fun! You will be missed." Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Memorial visitation will take place Wednesday, October 5th from 4 to 7 p.m. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 N. Plank Rd. (Rte. 32) Town of Newburgh.
