Jane McCracken Dobbelaer - Class of June 1943

    Jane E. McCracken Dobbelaer, long-time resident of Valley Cottage, passed away on October 17, 2016 at her home. She was born to William and Anna McCracken on February 3rd, 1926 in Newburgh, NY. Jane graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and after high school, joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps to serve our nation during World War II. During this time she met and married her husband, Harry Robert Dobbelaer, on September 29th, 1946. Jane received her Registered Nursing degree from Grasslands Nursing School in Vahalla, NY. She worked in the Office of Dr. Frederick Shroeder in Pearl River, NY, as well as several hospitals, including Nyack Hospital. She was pre-deceased by her devoted husband, eldest son Robert J. Dobbelaer, brother William McCracken, and sister Helen Yager. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Corvino and husband Robert, Thomas Dobbelaer and wife Sherri, Linda Gabriele and husband John, and Richard Dobbelaer and wife Andrea; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, October 21st from 4-7pm at Hannemann Funeral Home at 88 S. Broadway, Nyack, NY. There will be a short service on Saturday, October 22nd at 11am held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rockland County Office of the Aging, 50 Sanatorium Rd., Building B, Pomona, NY, 10970.
