Vera Konkol Farkas, 94, of Newburgh, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2016. Vera was born in Staten Island, NY, the daughter of Mary and Samuel Konkol. She went to high school at Newburgh Free Academy and graduated at the top of her class. She was an excellent seamstress, had an incredible memory and loved to tell jokes. Vera is preceded in death by her loving husband John and loving daughter Jeanne; a sister, Frances and four brothers, Daniel, Victor, Charles and Robert. Vera is survived by her children Carol Huba, John Farkas and his wife Sallie, Robert Farkas, Barbara Casey and her husband Chris, Mimi Merando and her husband Tony, 13 grandchildren: Diana Cook, Jeanne Marie Cook, Jack Cook, David Huba, Kristin Farkas, Teresa Givens, Joseph Bennett, Justin Bennett, Carson Casey, Lauren Casey, Douglas Masiero, Dara Masiero, Lauren Masiero, and 8 great grandchildren: Maria and Joseph Bennett, Jackson and Jacob Bennett, India and Shea Givens, Ashton Huba, and Samantha Cook, and many nieces and nephews. Services are private. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
