Norman Patton, 84, of Tillson passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Newburgh, NY March 22, 1932 a son of the late David M. and Olive Klyne Patton. “Norm” is survived by his brother David L. Patton, and sisters Irene Siegman, Virginia Gross, and Genevieve R. Barclay. Two brothers, Howard and Donald Patton died previously. Norm was a loving husband and a great father. He married Teresa Janet Labrenz on Sept. 8, 1957. At Teresa’s death March 24, 2013, they had been married for 55 years. Together they raised four sons, Thomas Patton and his wife Jonna of Wyoming, Douglas Patton and his wife Mary of Mt. Marion, Richard Patton and his late wife Melanie of Petersburgh, and Norman E. Patton of Tillson. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Paul, Anthony and wife Janice, Josiah and wife Danielle, Dannielle, William, Kathleah, Amanda, and Curtis. His great-grandchildren Seth, Judah, and Bentley will miss him very much. Norm served in the U.S. Army (1951-54) in Korea for 13 months. In the Army he learned electronics and radio repair. This experience allowed him to gain employment at Central Hudson in New Paltz. He loved his job and retired in 1992. Norm was an avid reader. He loved to read “Popular Mechanics” and “Wood Working” magazines. He built his own TV, loved to fix things, and his children spent many hours admiring his whittling projects. Norm also was involved in Boy Scouts (Troop 17) and coached Little League Baseball for many years. Norm was viewed as a quiet man, but gained the respect of the community during his daily neighborhood walks. His quiet, loving, and generous spirit will be dearly missed by all. During his later years he displayed great strength as he battled courageously with Parkinson’s disease. Private cremation arrangements were by the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. A service to celebrate both Norm and Teresa’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
