John M. Suydam, 86, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. He was born in
Newburgh and resided there until 2014. He was Principal of North Junior High
School from 1966-1985, where he previously taught Biology. After graduating from
NFA in 1947,he obtained a BS degree from Monmouth College, Illinois and a MS in
Education from NYU in 1952. He spent 2 years in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He
is predeceased by his wife, Janet L. Suydam. John is survived by his three
children: Gayle L. Kiviniemi and husband, Don, Barbara J. McCutcheon and
husband, John and Richard J. Suydam. He is also survived by four beloved
grandchildren: Donald Kiviniemi and wife, Kristy, Lynn Kiviniemi Sudduth and
husband, Paul, Matthew McCutcheon and Eric McCutcheon; five great grandchildren:
Ty Kiviniemi, Kealy Kiviniemi, Cole Kiviniemi, Dane Sudduth and Drew Sudduth. A
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 10 at Doulin
Newburgh Funeral Home Inc. Burial will follow at Orange County Veterans
Cemetery, Goshen, NY. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the John M.
Sudam Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home Inc., 318 N.
