Marion Westlake Clarke of Milton, NY passed away at home from natural causes on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, a day before her 99th birthday. She was born December 15, 1917 in Middle Hope, NY to Ralph and Garnett Westlake. She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Leonard Clarke. Other family members include sons Walter Roe Clarke and wife Carol, Steven W. Clarke and wife Judy, along with nieces, nephews, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Marion graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1937 and received her RN from Methodist Hospital of Brooklyn, NY in 1940. She worked as a nurse for many years, while raising a family and being a farmer's wife (which is not the same as being a housewife!). Marion worked with her husband Leonard growing and selling apples, and he credits the success of the farm to her hard work and excellent bookkeeping. She was a true partner in every sense as they lived, worked and traveled together. They were avid travelers, especially to Africa where they made several trips. Marion was an active, lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Milton and Marlboro where she taught Sunday School and was a dedicated member of the choir. She loved to sing and play the piano. Marion was a wonderful baker, and visitors to her house tended to come close to lunch, as they would always be invited in for a delicious meal (and there was always dessert!). She sowed seeds of love, strength and faith, and reaped the harvest of a rich, full life dedicated to her family. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 19th from 2-4pm at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro. Funeral services will follow visitation on Monday at 4pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion's memory may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Carl J. DiDonato, Jr. of the DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc. (845) 236-4300, www.didonatofuneralservice.com
