Mary A. Colandrea Fichera, of the Town of Newburgh, NY, a lifelong area resident, entered into rest February 1, 2017. She was 91. The daughter of the late Antonio and Celesta (Scotto) Colandrea, she was born May 22, 1925 in Newburgh. Mary was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, and was a Retail Manager in the Jewelry field. She married the late Mario Fichera on April 21, 1946 in Newburgh, and they were married for 59 years. She is survived by her sons, Anthony Fichera and his wife Susan of Wallkill, and Michael Fichera and his wife Cynthia of Cornwall; her sisters, Fermina (Fran) Orsini of Cornwall and Eva Costa of Wallkill; grandchildren, Matthew Fichera and his wife Amanda, and Laura, Alexandra and Giovanna Fichera; great-grandchildren Charles and Livia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Mario, she was predeceased by two brothers, Louis and Patsy. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 4, at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
