Armand G. Daddazio, U.S. MARINE CORPS RETIRED passed away, September 30, 2016 in El Paso, TX where he resided since 1967. "DAZ," as he was affectionally known, was 97. He was a New York state native, attended schools in Newburgh, N.Y., and graduated from Bates College, Lewiston, Maine. He was a veteran of World War Two and the Korean War, with over 26 years of service. His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with V, and Army Commendation Medal. Between wars he served on the battleship NEW JERSEY and the cruisers HOUSTON AND ROCHESTER. He commanded a field artillery battalion and the first MARINE CORPS air defense HAWK missile battalion, which he activated at Fort Bliss. He was a nuclear weapons instructor at Field Command, DASA, Albuquerque, N.M., and at the Marine Corps Schools, Quantico, VA. His last active duty assignment was at the Pentagon. He retired from Professional Investment Counsel, Inc., a local investment advisory firm in 1989. Survivors include his daughters, Candi Vaughn, El Paso, and Terri Wilson, Pearland, TX, their mother, Margaret Hansen, step-son, Patrick Crowley, Kerrville, TX, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Harriet Platt in 1989, step-son, Robert J. Crowley, Jr. in 1962, and step-daughter, Genny Crowley DeHaven Hurd in 2015. Graveside services at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors will be Friday, February 10, 2017 at 14:00 (2 p.m. MST).
