James Jamie Claflin - Class of 1969

         James "Jamie" Stevenson Claflin, passed away peacefully after battling illness on Monday, February 13, 2017. Jamie was born on December 27, 1950 in New York, NY, son of Rosemarie Krage Claflin and the late Aaron "Steve" Stevenson Claflin. He graduated from Newburgh Free Academy class of '69 and thoroughly enjoyed keeping up with his classmates. Known to many for his genuine smile and laughing eyes, he held friendship dear. He was a member of the local Boy Scouts Troop, along with his two brothers, and played on the NFA football team. Jamie obtained his B.S. in Sociology from SUNY Geneseo, and pursued a career in business, particularly marketing, management and consulting. He was successful enough to retire early and enjoy his last few years in the warmer weather of Georgia and Florida. Jamie was an avid dart player and enjoyed woodworking, pottery, music, astronomy, golf, football on Sundays, reading, poker, traveling, and having a good time with his friends and family. Surviving are his son, Shane; daughter, Jessica; daughter, Cassidy; grandchildren, Chase James, Julie Geraldine, Alli Rosemarie, and Ayla Rose; mother, Rosemarie; brother, Tim and his wife, Liz; nieces, Whitney, Julia and Nicole; as well as his good friend Gayle. He is predeceased by father, Steve; brother, Peter Cl-67; niece, Danielle; his beloved dog, Tucker Lord of the Rock. In lieu of services, his family asks for you to live on with your happiest memories of him. Jamie was an active blood donor, and would appreciate for all of you to make donations to your local Blood Bank in his honor.James Jamie Claflin - NFA Class of 1969 - Feb, 13, 2017  Jamie Claflin at the age of 66 passed away peacefully from end stage liver failure.
