Joseph Clancy - NFA Teacher

      Joseph Michael Patrick Clancy, 87, of Winchester, Virginia, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in Winchester Medical Center. Mr. Clancy was born in 1921, in Oswego, New York, the son of the late Laurence and Elizabeth H. Clancy. He was a chemistry teacher in Newburgh, New York, having served for over twenty-five years. Mr. Clancy was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester, Virginia. He attended Cornell University, received a B.S. Degree from Brockport State University and received a Masters Degree from Albany State University. He was a veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps in the Philippines, during World War II. He married Kathryn Mitchell in June 1949, in Oswego, New York. In addition to his wife of Winchester, Virginia, he is survived by a daughter, Maureen Clancy Hall and her husband, William P. Hall of Winchester, Virginia; two grandchildren, Heather Hall Campbell and husband Brian Campbell, their children, Zachary and Riley all of Richmond, Virginia; and Timothy W. Hall and wife Tanya and their children Brennan, Connor and Elise all of Locust Grove, Virginia. Two sisters, Mary Clancy Finneran and Ann Clancy North, two brothers, Laurence D. Clancy and John Clancy preceded him in death. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 AM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
