Harry Lukacik - Class of 1942

Harry F Lukacik of Newburgh passed away on Sunday, February 26. He was 92. A
35-year employee of IBM in Poughkeepsie, he retired in 1986 as a Product
Engineer. Born in Newburgh, on April 3, 1924 to the late Paul and Hermina
Chrenka Lukacik. Harry was a 1942 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. He served
in the United States Navy Armed Guard from 1943-46. He was stationed in the
Asiatic-Pacific Area, as well as the European-African and Middle Eastern Areas.
He was Awarded a Bronze Star, WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Harry
enjoyed fast pitch softball, sandlot football, bowling and golf. He was a member
of St. Patrick's Church. Harry is survived by his loving wife Barbara; four
sons, Michael, Gary and his wife Carole, Kyle and his wife Francine, and Paul
and his wife Enid; and his granddaughter Amelia; as well as several nieces and
nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Francis,
Edward, Carl and William; and his sisters Martha and Helen. Visitation will be
held from 4-7pm on Thursday, March 2 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave.,
Newburgh, NY. Burial with Military Honors will take place at the Orange County
