Nira C Davis Gerken of Beacon, former longtime Newburgh residence, entered into
rest Friday, March 3, 2017 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital,, Newburgh. She was
83. Born August 4, 1933, in Newburgh, NY, she was the daughter of the late Earl
and Gertrude McDowell Davis. She was the widow of the late Richard Harry Gerken,
who predeceased her May 6, 2008. Nira was a retired Chef with Hanger One,
Newburgh, she was a member of the Newburgh Bowling Hall of Fame, an avid Bingo
player, and the L.P.B.A. Survivors include her three children, Susan
Gerken-Riccio of Beacon, Cheryl Gerken of Beacon and Walter Gerken of Beacon, a
son-in-law, Albert Riccio of Newburgh, four grandchildren, Jovanna Riccio-Barnard
and her husband Daniel, Alea Riccio, Tyler Gerken and Ryan Gerken, her brother,
William Davis of Matamoras, PA, and her sister, Joan Bowen of Newburgh, as well
as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters.
A Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM
at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave. Beacon, where at 8:00 PM services
will take place. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made directly
to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Jarett D. Quick at Libby
