Rev. Dr. John Gauson Lewis was born on December 24, 1936 and passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Rev. Dr. Lewis was a resident of Rochester, New York at the time of his passing. Bishop Stewart was born in New York city and raised in Newburgh, N.Y. where he attended high school and was an All Star Basketball player. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Navy in 1955 where he served on an aircraft carrier.
