Verna Merritt Crosby - Class of 1941

    Verna M. Merritt Crosby, 93, of Clifton Park, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, in Albany with her loving daughters by her side. Born in Newburgh, N.Y. on October 31, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edison and Abby (Lefevre) Merritt. She was married to William L. Crosby on March 25, 1949, and the two shared a blessed union of 32 years prior to his passing in 1981. Verna had been working for 22 years for the Tourist Information Center in Clifton Park currently run by the Chamber of Southern Saratoga County, and was currently an active employee. Prior to that she worked in the cash office at GEX in Latham for 14 years and at one time at Crowley's Milk in Newburgh for 14 years, and it was there she met her husband, Bill. She was also a Charter Member of the Halfmoon Senior Citizens Center for the past 30 years, where she participated in the craft group. She is survived by her loving daughters, Gail (Elliot) Friedman of Latham, Karen Ouellette of Clifton Park and Janice (Peter) Kelly of Watervliet; as well as her six cherished grandchildren, Cristina (Ron) Thompson, Michelle Ouellette, Brielle Friedman, Corey (fiancee, Kristen) Friedman, Sarah and Andrea Kelly; and seven adored great-grandchildren, Isaac, Jacob, Hannah, Benjamin, Sarah, Ava and Lillianna. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Saturday April 22, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Funeral services will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at the conclusion of the visitation at the funeral home with Associate Pastor John Phillippe officiating. Interment will be next to her beloved Bill in Memory Garden's, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Verna's memory to the American Lung Association , 418 Broadway, First Floor, Albany, NY 12207.
