Michael Pacella - Class of 1956

    Michael "Mike" Pacella, a lifelong resident of Newburgh and retired Operating Engineer for Local Union #825, entered into rest on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 79. The son of the late Rocco and Mary (Alfano) Pacella, he was born August 17, 1937 in Newburgh. Mike was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and served in the U.S. Armed Forces. He was a Charter Member & Past President of the Town of Newburgh Ambulance Corps, Life Member of Goodwill Fire Department, was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Goodfellowship Dartball League, and was a Member of the Newburgh ELKS #247. He is survived by his children, Michael and wife Lori, Dennis and wife Renee, Susan and friend Jeffery, Steven and friend Leslie; siblings Frieda Gozza, Richard and wife Bonnie, Carl and wife Linda; grandchildren, Keri and Nicholas Pacella, Dennis Jr and Danielle Pacella, Taylor Brummell, Jaclyn and Camryn Pacella; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Rocco Jr., daughter in-law Vanessa, brother in-law Leonard Gozza, and nieces Joann and Tara Gozza. We would like to thank the staff at Liberty Dialysis Center and St. Luke's Hospital; and a special thank you to Nancy Pacella and nephew Jimmy Fayo for the care they've provided dad over the years. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, April 27 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. Prayers and entombment with Military Honors will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 28 at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike's memory may be sent to Goodwill Fire Department, 1 S. Plank Rd., Newburgh, NY 12550. Born: August 7, 1937 Death: April 23, 2017
