Irene Rudolph Foster, "Duckshouse," "Rene," "Squeaks," "Damn Yankee," of Newburgh, NY., Panama City Beach, FL. and Nashville, TN., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 6, 2017. Her husband, Robert, was waiting on the other side and ushered her into the party. Also eagerly awaiting her arrival were George Donald Rudolph, Florence Irene Rudolph, Bob Hitt, Evelyn and Johnny Chaffin and Dotte (DA) Foster. Carrying on her many stories here on Earth include her grandchildren, Hayley and Gabriel Graham, son-in-law Noah Savant, former-son-in-law James Graham, best friend Martha Bates, too many other friends to name, and devoted daughter, Dorthy Savant. Irene loved the beach, cats and sipping a strong cocktail in a sweet ocean breeze. An avid baseball fan, she unfailingly cheered on her Atlanta Braves. When the Braves weren't playing, she enjoyed game shows, particularly Jeopardy, and working jigsaw puzzles, sudoku, Crosswords, playing Bingo and card games. A brilliant wit, she kept everyone who knew her on their toes. Irene was loving, generous to a fault, and deeply charming, earning her the instant love and admiration of friends in every corner of her life. A lifelong Christian Scientist, she formerly served as organist and treasurer of the Nashville Church, and was a lifelong member of the Nashville Musicians Union. She was also a lifelong Republican, until Donald Trump became the party's nominee, at which time she displayed her disgust by voting Democrat in the 2016 election. Irene loved to laugh and was the life of every party. She loved great music, cooking, gardening, politics, weather, wigs, eyebrow pencils, lipstick, fingernail polish, and chocolate candy. Most of all, she loved her family, especially the love of her life, Robert, with whom she is again dancing and drinking cocktails, at the great unending party. Gathering with the family will be on Wednesday June 14, 2017 from 4-6 Pm at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Nashville Cat Rescue, Nashville Humane Association, Alive Hospice of Nashville or the charity of your choice.
