Doris Lorraine Libolt Conklin entered into the joy of the Lord on June 17, 2017 with members of her loving family by her side. She was predeceased in 2013 by her beloved husband, Will, and by her beautiful daughter, Melonie in 1989. She leaves behind daughters, Freesia Raine and husband, Ray, Joan Conklin, Julie Ronk and husband, Ken, Colleen Suo and husband, Joe and one son, Dan Conklin. She was a devoted grandmother to Jason Tate, Bill Potter and family, Jesse Autumn, Heaven Lee Porteous and family, Ken Ronk Jr. and family, Angel Song Chewning (Porteous) and family, Tim Ronk and family, and David Young. Doris took tremendous joy in being great-grandmother to Allison and Victoria Potter, Jackson and Calvin Chewning, and Oliver Ronk. Doris loved her Lord Jesus, as anyone who has ever met her can testify. Always ready and willing to serve her Lord by helping others, she was a dynamic presence in the many congregations in which she and Will were members, both in the Hudson Valley and during the recent 22 years of their retirement in Florida. Doris was an avid gardener, expert at sewing and many crafts and inspired others to value nature and to be creative. While raising her family, she served as a Girl Scout leader for many years. She was also a professional cake decorator and an excellent homemaker with a welcoming heart and an open door. Doris was greatly loved by friends and family, and reveled in bringing them together for reunions and celebrations. The legacy of her faith and love for Jesus will live on in our hearts as we honor her by following her example of serving the Lord with gladness. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on July 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2520 Route 208 in Walden, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the charity of your choice or to Hudson Valley Hospice (hvhospice.org) in Doris’ name. H.V. Hospice’s dedicated and compassionate support was a great comfort and source of strength for her family in their time of need. We will be forever grateful to them.
