Eliezer James Riquelme was born on February 27, 1991 in New York State to Eric and Daphney Reid Riquelme. Eliezer was called home on July 28, 2017. Eliezer grew up in Newburgh, and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 2009. There he studied graphic design and was a member of the football, wrestling and track teams. After high school, Eliezer attended both Mercy and Dutchess College. Thereafter, he enlisted in the Air Force National Guard. In May 2017, he began working for Long Island Railroad in New York City as a wireman. Eliezer also known to his family and friends as Rico or Boobie was a member of the Outsiders Football League and led them to a championship in May 2017 and was named MVP for that game. Rico had a great admiration for Coach Burke who was his high school track coach. He often told his mother that his goal in life was not to be just a teacher, but to be "that teacher" whom his students can depend on, just like Coach Burke. He was charismatic and passionate about everything he did. He was also known as the "Great Debater" which was probably his favorite title since he did it so well. Eliezer is survived by his father, Eric Riquelme, Sr. and mother, Daphney Riquelme, both of Newburgh, NY; brother, Eric Riquelme Jr.; sister-in-law, Shaina Riquelme of Pine Bush, NY; sister, Elexus Riquelme of Newburgh, NY; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. Mr. Riquelme will lie in repose from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 4th at Freedom Road Bible Church, 850 Rte 52, Walden, NY. Funeral service begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5 at the church. Pastor Richard Bruschi will officiate. Interment with Full Military Honors at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY. Professional service entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home, 259 Walsh Ave., New Windsor, NY 12553. "Committed To Being The Very Best" Call us anytime 569-1233. - February 27, 1991 - July 28, 2017
