Hugh A. McTamaney, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at CareOne at Wayne in Wayne, NJ. He was 93 years old. Son of the late James and Mary Gilmore McTamaney, he was born February 13, 1924 in Newburgh, NY. He was the widower of Joan Wetz McTamaney who predeceased him in 1994. Hugh was a retired Supervisor for Housing at the United States Military Academy at West Point, and was a Clerk in the Administration Offices for the Superintendant of Bear Mountain, Bear Mountain, NY. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #515. Survivors include his loving daughter, Nancy A. McTamaney of West Milford, NJ, and his brother-in-law, Jon H. Wetz and his family of Cape Cod, MA. Hugh was predeceased by his brother, James McTamaney. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY. Memorial Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, September 1st at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
