Blanche Rogers Kosky, 90, of Camillus, passed away Sunday at University Hospital. Born in Newburgh in October 1926, she was a 1942 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. Blanche was employed at Stewart Air Force Base for several years where she met Capt. John Kosky, who was a public information officer at the base. He produced a weekly radio program for the base on Newburgh WGNY and invited the Rogers sisters, Blanche and Shirley, to become regular cast members. They sang as a duet for many charitable functions and the USO troops. Blanche and John were married in September 1948. After her husband left the service, his civilian career in industrial advertising took them to Philadelphia. During this time, Blanche became a Red Cross Gray Lady volunteer. Their son, David, was born in 1963 and he brought them great joy. At a young age, he was diagnosed with Athetoid Cerebral Palsy. He lived at home with them and Blanche became his caregiver. After her husband retired, he joined N.W. Ayer in NYC and was assigned to the Army account. He then transferred to the Army Recruiting office in Syracuse in 1980. The Kosky Family made their home in Camillus. Blanche served as secretary of the Syracuse Chapter, X-POW, during the two terms her husband served as commander. A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, she was a member of its Art Guild for many years. Blanche was predeceased by her husband, John, in 2007; and sister, Shirley McShane. Surviving are her son, David of Owasco; brother, William (Lillian) Rogers of New Windsor; sister, Mary Smith of Spring, TX; and their families. Relatives and friends may call Friday, September 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Blanche will be laid to rest with her husband in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one's favorite charity. Share condolences at
