Ronald Vincent Stang Sr., 89 of Roswell, GA, passed away on October 26, 2017. Born in Hillsdale, NJ on March 16, 1928, Ron was the middle son of Francis McCarthy and John A. Stang and grew up in Newburgh, NY. After graduating from NFA in 1946, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a Marine like his big brother, Jack, whom he idolized. Between tours of duty, Ron worked in his family's bar and restaurants, Stang's Bar & Grill on Front Street along the Hudson, and the 223 Club on First Street near Downing Park. He served as a sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict on the USS Cabot and the USS Midway as a member of the VMF 225 Marine Air Corp Squadron. He returned to Newburgh in 1953 and married Joan Vesley. He worked at the Danskammer Power Plant before moving into the car business, where he remained for most of his working career. Ron and his brother Jack opened Stang Brothers Car Sales on Broadway in the mid 1960s, where they sold Triumphs and Datsuns. In 1985, he moved his family to Atlanta after his son graduated from Georgia Tech. He reincarnated and operated Stang's Bar & Grill in Midtown Atlanta during the 1990s before retiring in Roswell, GA. He is survived by his wife, Joan, his daughter, Dawn, and his best friend and son, Ron Jr., and wife, Melissa; his granddaughters, Emma and Elle Stang; and his brother Jack's family: Camie, Marlene, and Jack Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and John, and two brothers, Jack and Wally. An affable, outgoing, and family-loving man, Ron will be missed by all.
