Florence Meenagh Yatto - Class of 1949

    Florence T. Meenagh Yatto, 85 of Salem, passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, November 12, 2017 at Saratoga Hospital, Saratoga Springs, NY. Born January 10, 1932 in Newburgh, NY and was the daughter of the late William and Florence (Kolb) Meenagh. Flo graduated from Newburgh Free Academy where she played on the basketball team. Flo and her husband Charlie moved to Salem, NY in 1971 from Peekskill, NY. They owned and operated the Black Coach Country Store in Salem. Flo then worked for various companies and then retired from Carruthers Roofing Co. in Argyle. Flo was a member of Holy Cross Church in Salem. She enjoyed walking and could be seen walking on Route 22 in Salem on a daily basis. She also enjoyed bowling, reading, watching the New York Giants. Flo volunteered at the Salem Food Pantry and was an Advocate for Disabled Rights. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Allen Yatto who passed away December 6, 2010; a brother and a sister, John and Catherine Flo is survived by her two sons, Erik Yatto of Clifton Park and Kurt Yatto of Shushan; two grandsons, Donovan Yatto and Kellen Yatto. Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 19th at the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, November 20th at Holy Cross Church, 249 North Main St., Salem with Rev. Martin Fisher officiating. Interment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Memorial contributions in memory of Flo may be made to the Salem Food Pantry, P.O. Box 476, Salem, NY 12865.
